“I am accessible and flexible. Lets discuss ideas and work together to design a unique piece. Let me weld those ideas together for you in a piece that you will cherish forever.”
Donald Francis combines his welding trade with artistic creativity to make unique one-of-a-kind art pieces that are both beautiful and functional. From chairs, tables, coat racks, home entertainment cabinets and bakers racks. . . to intricately sculptured creations. Check out the 3-dimensional eagle, the blue herons, and the ‘metal man’. Truly, great talent in his work.
He has been a metal tradesman for 25 years, doing industrial repairs in pulp mills. Working from home, Don Francis does his own smithing and cuts his material with an oxyacetylene torch or a plasma cutter. All products may be either powder coated or painted. Powder coating is excellent for outdoor use or for a more durable finish for commercial purposes.
A talented nature photographer, Don’a love for the great outdoors has an immense influence on his work. As portrayed through his ‘Eco-style’ furnishings; i.e. a glass table is supported by bulrushes — metal of course, with a fountain suspended below the beveled glass table top. Don has commercial , portraiture, architectural, wedding and aerial photography in his portfolio.
Don has had numerous exhibits of his work, both photo art and metal sculpture in Vancouver and Ontario i.e. Sinclair Centre, Bank of Hong Kong Canada, Vancity Bank, Robson Square Media Centre, Firehall Centre for the Arts. His works are purchased and displayed by corporations including ICBC, as well as private collectors. Private art collectors from the United States also acquired some of his works of art. He has presented many slide presentations including the Burns Bog Conservation Society.
